KONA VILLAGE RESORT

Kona Village Resort is among the most well known throughout the Hawaiian islands. Opening in 1965, the Polynesian-themed resort is known for its rustic charm and no-frills luxury. On May 13, 2011, the Japanese earthquake and tsunami devastated the majority of Kona Village, forcing it to close. Plans to renovate the resort will preserve its historical character and spirit of the place while updating and expanding its current amenities. The guest hales will be renovated and the restaurants updated to showcase a new design for the beach bar. Other new amenities will include an adult pool, kids pool, and main pool, and an Ocean Activities Center and Conference Center. A world-class spa and fitness facility will have private outdoor treatment rooms and a yoga pavilion overlooking the resort’s anchialine ponds.
